I am planning to chnge server compleate
my old setup
win2003 sp2
Sql 2000
Dynamics 9 sp3

new also same
only changing the server to DEL
i am planning to do the same

Simply
install your operating system on new server.
Apply all patches service packs
Install antivirus
Rename the server in same old server name
Join the server in network with same configuration
Make the ODBC if applicable
Then install SQL server with SP (same SP on old server )
Install Great Plains server with service pack
If there are 3rd party or modified report or forms ,…… make sure to make backups
Make sure from backup policy if its applied on SQL server and make sure if there are jobs, maintenance plane ,Mail setting ….. etc , to move it from old server
Any way don’t make format for old server now
Till now that all what is in my mind and if there something else , other professional guys will help you

If your question is about connectivity, changing the ODBC is all what you need.
But if it is about carrying the data from a server to another, the previous reply is the suiitable answer.
